Design Process

How is a project designed?

Every project is different; however, some of the same steps occur no matter what is being done for a client.

Step 1

An analysis is made of the existing work. Whenever possible, a copy is provided to two or three independent reviewers for their input. Independent reviewers are individuals who have years of experience with websites or the specific type of work and have master's degrees in education. Areas needing improvement are noted and areas that are lacking are addressed for inclusion.

Step 2

A client meeting is arranged to present what is missing in the existing work, as well as what needs to be altered. The psychology of color is discussed as it pertains to websites, as is the selection of fonts. The selection and usage of a logo is included.

Step 3

The developer will use and possibly modify existing text to build a home page for review by the nonprofit. The design will be approved, and then the developer will continue with the remainder of the project.

Step 4

Throughout the project, the developer requests that the client remain accessible by phone or email for clarification of project components.

Step 5

Following initial input of all data, the developer will test the project on various devices and also confirm that all links are live.

Step 6

The project is reviewed by the individuals who provided the initial assessment of the original work.

Step 7

The project is submitted to the client for final review.

Step 8

Final revisions are made to the work.

Completion time

A simple website or project where text has been provided takes a week to 10 days to develop. If text has to be created or extensively rewritten, then the project will take longer. The time is dependent upon the length of the content, the complexity of the design, and the availability of the client when needed. No completion date is guaranteed; however, an estimated date can be provided.
